Hello and a warm welcome

 Why counselling?

Sometimes life can be overwhelmingly complex. You might be juggling relationships, family, (partners, children, teenagers, aging parents) work, career, finances or ill-health. There can be so many feelings you are dealing with- or not dealing with.

You might feel over stretched, cut off from yourself and others, or as if you are just functioning on automatic pilot. Maybe you have tried to talk to family or friends, but don’t want to burden or upset them, or they might be part of the confusion or problem.

Reaching out for support when life is challenging is not easy, so well done for taking the first steps to arrive here.

What to expect from counselling

I can arrange to see you face to face from the Cliffe Osteopathy & Complementary Health Clinic in Lewes. I also work online. Sessions usually take place once a week, preferably at a regular time.

Some clients come to look at a particular issue, whilst others start counselling because they have a sense that something is not right in their life but are not sure what’s really going on. Together, we will explore your thoughts, feelings or hunches. I will listen, ask questions, reflect back or possibly challenge you at times.

This can be a very powerful and healing experience and an effective way to gain clarity and insights to be able to move forward in your life.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of counselling sessions or the duration of the counselling process is very individual. Some people need a few sessions, whilst others who are dealing with complex issues will need longer. In some instances, I also offer single sessions.

This will be your choice as you move through the process because ultimately you are the expert of your own life and needs.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Having worked for many years as a remedial massage therapist with my own massage school, I then qualified as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, (level 6), with transactional analysis (TA) as my core training.

I have worked for over 20 years, in the charitable, cooperate and private sectors. My clients have come from a wide range of cultural, socio-economic, religious and gender backgrounds and across all age groups.

I am DBS checked to work with under 18s.

Is counselling regulated?

The short answer to it is – yes!

All reputable counsellors are members of a professional psychotherapy & counselling body. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS) and abide by their codes of ethics.
